About Traffolyte

Traffolyte (also known as laminate or acrylic) was first produced in 1927 by Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Ltd. at their Trafford Park factory in Manchester.

It is an ideal material for producing identification tags and labels. It is robust, easy to maintain and resistant to household chemicals and solvents and so is ideal in areas where cleanliness and hygiene are the priority eg: kitchens, dining rooms etc. It is also easy to disinfect with hot water, disinfectant and steam making it ideal for use in hospitals.

It gives a durable, professional, high quality finish. It is naturally hard-wearing and no further surface protection is required as it is resistant to water and oxidization. It is also very difficult to ignite, and is solvent, acid and alkali resistant.

Traffolyte Colours

Traffolyte is similar to formica and consists of varying combinations of colours sandwiched together. Engraving through the top surface of the material exposes the colour underneath.

Traffolyte is available in 1.5 mm or 3mm depth and different colour combinations.
